In the 1960's, most universities had not yet created a computer
science curriculum, and most people becoming involved with
computers were trained "on the job". In particular,
IBM (International Business Machines Corporation)
understood that a well-trained cadre of intelligent
young men and women were important to the success of their
customers, and IBM made a business out of training
not just their own employees, but their customers' as well.
This page is a selection of illustrations from the textbook for
IBM's course "Introduction to IBM Data Processing Systems", 1968 edition.
I received these scans from a gentleman whose e-mail
identifies him as "Tom <huck@finn.com>".
